General Information

London Heathrow Airport

  • http://www.heathrowairport.com/ has all the information you need. Budget airlines do not fly to Heathrow.
     
  • Getting to and from Heathrow.
     
  • Heathrow Connect: Cheaper than Heathrow Express but slightly slower.  It leaves from the same platform as Heathrow Express.  It terminates at Paddington. Journey time from Terminal 1, 2 & 3 is 25 minutes. Cost:    Adult £7.40 single.
     
  • Heathrow Express: Takes 15 minutes and runs every 15 minutes to Paddington Station.  Cost:    Adult single £16, £32 return.
     
  • London Underground: The Piccadilly line operates a good service to Central London and goes to Kings Cross station with no changes.  Useful if you are going directly to the Retreat.  Journey Time:  50/60 Minutes into Kings Cross. Cost:  Adult Single £4.00
     
  • National Express Coach service: Slowest but cheapest way into London. Terminates at Victoria Coach Station which is a 10 minute walk to the Victoria underground. Victoria underground is on a direct underground line to Euston/Kings Cross Station.

  • An Oyster Card is the cheapest and most flexible way to travel. £3 deposit. You will need 2 photos.
     
  • Cheap fares for young people under 16 travelling in London. Up to four children under 11 who are with an adult can travel free on buses and underground.
     
  • Underground stations for the Camden Centre (where the retreat is taking place) are
    • King’s Cross St. Pancras
      Circle / Hammersmith & City / Metropolitan / Northern (City branch) / Piccadilly / Victoria
    • Euston
      Circle / Northern (City & Charing Cross branches) / Victoria
       
  • Buses are an excellent way to see London.  Buses 10, 30, 46, 63, 73, 91 and 214 go past Camden Centre (where the retreat is taking place).

  • Congestion Charge Remember you need to pay this (best in advance) if you are driving in central London during weekdays. “You do not have to pay the charge on weekends, English public holidays, designated non-charging days, or between 18:00 and 07:00.”
